Yo Gabba Gabba

This is what I get to watch EVERYDAY (except Saturday and Sunday). It is Olivia's favorite show. It is quite an interesting show--o.k. truth be known--IT DRIVES ME CRAZY!! The host guy--DJ Lance is anorexic and wears tight orange spandex with a band leader's hat and carries around a boom box full of dolls. That in itself is enough to make me puke. Then there are these costumed "things" named Plex, Foofa, Brobie, Tudi and Moon-o. They are--oh just let the clip speak for itself. What ever happened to Captain Kangaroo and Romper Room? (I just totally aged myself didn't I--oh well.)

The only reason I know about this show is because Joel McHale mocks it endlessly on The Soup. My favorite pasttime.

Kristina-
Yes, oh yes!! I LOVE Joel McHale and I especially LOVE it when he mocks this show!!

As I was blog stalking around the Yo Gabba Gabba caught my eye. I can't stand that show! My sister introduced it to my 2yr old and now he sings the "So Yummy, So Yummy" song every dinner time!Ugh!

Yeah, the funniest clip is the dancing boys on the soup. And I actually have a story with that (suprised? didn't think so. haha)

Last year around this time is when Joel first made fun of You Gabba Gabba. We laughed so hard. So, what did we do when we went to my brother's house to carve pumpkins? We talked about it and made fun of it. Well, there was another couple there from California and the girl speaks up, "OH, I LOVE YO GABBA GABBA! My friends from back home actually are the one's who made the show. It's so cool, blahblahblah blah" Oh my.... Jaren and I looked at each other and about died. We didn't want to make her feel dumb so we didn't say anything for the rest of the night... but when we were on our way home we laughed. And laughed and laughed. So funny. Such a dumb show.

Welcome Mommy Madness! I hope that you become a regular! I LOVE blog stalkers! Matter of fact--I think that I will stalk your blog--matter of fact I thing I will add you to my blog roll! (0:

Olivia sings the stupid songs all of the time. It DRIVES ME CRAZY but it keeps her entertained so that I can blog. hahahahahaha (0:

Whitney-
That is HILARIOUS!! I would have made fun of it the rest of the night and then been like, "oh, sorry I forgot you said you liked that show". That's how I roll!

Brittany Marie said...

Oh man. I think I'd stab myself if I had to watch that. Good thing Joel watches it all for me.

Those crazy Mormons who created Yo Gabba Gabba!

Oh wait. You're Mormon too?!!!!

I think it's hilarious when Mormons rip on other Mormons, instead of congratulating them for being in the public eye and being subtle missionaries not only to all the famous people who appear on their show, but to the fans around the world who are watching them.

Carry on!

*MARY* said...

anonymous is right, did you ever hear of a band called the aquabats? They are Mormon and they created yo gabba gabba. How do I know this? BECAUSE I AM ANONYMOUS!!! Just kidding I'm really not. But my kids used to watch this on nick jr's website all the time but they've moved on to wonderpets now. I really didn't mind yo gabba gabba.

*MARY* said...

oh and I meant anonymous was right about mormons behind the show not that he's right in his kinda mean sarcastic little comment.

anonymous commenters are yella bellied.

Anonymous said...

You can call me names. I don't mind. JESUS APPROVES OF YOU, YOUR BROKEN CAPSLOCKS KEY, NAME CALLING, ETC., MARY. JESUS APPROVES!

I wonder if it ever occurs to people that family members of Yo Gabba Gabba/Aquabats subscribe to Google keywords and receive blog posts like this in their personal email whenever those words pop up? Don't worry, I won't follow your example and make fun of your blogs in on my public blog. Go ahead and flame me some more. I won't be back to point out your Utah Mormon hypocrisy.

*MARY* said...

Name calling?! NAME CALLING?! (see my caps lock key is working fine) Isn't calling someone a hyprocrite name calling?

Jillene said...

Uuuummmm....wow! You leave the house for a few hours and look what happens!

First--Anonymous, if you feel so passionate about your plight then why posting as anonymous? I think that in itself is hypicritical!

Second--I didn't know it was Mormons that created the show. That was news to me. Good for them and their missionary efforts. BUT--that doesn't mean that the show isn't annoying! I have EVERY right to my own opinion. Ever heard of free agency?

Third--Just because it annoys me doesn't mean that I don't let my daughter watch it. She watches it everyday sometimes twice a day. So I think that means that I am supporting the show--RIGHT?

Mary-
Sorry! I never intended for something like this to happen. Especially to a good person like you!

I have heard of Aquabats. Matter of fact I love their music. I also used to work for a company called Cassette Productions (which went out of business)and we made their CD.

Bobie said...

Never heard of Yo Gabba Gabba til now. Maybe TJ watches it and that's why all he does is gabba gabba!! he he I'm so dang funny!!

*MARY* said...

JILLENE! You're back, phew! Who knew a post about a kids tv show could take such a crazy turn?
Thanks for your sympathy but I'm all done crying now, it's ok.
I know I don't need to worry about you (I read your walmart comment on whitneys blog)

Jillene said...

Mary-
I am glad that you came back! I hoped that the anonymous jerk didn't ruin our blog friendship! I really hope that whoever it is comes back and reads my comment that I left to them. I think that I am going to ban anonymous comments from now on!

And beleive me--you DON'T have to worry--I have your back 100%!

Hey Mr Anon.... I see your words but all I read is "blah blah blah".

Who cares who is behind it? we are free to love ot hate it. I love it. I LOVE having a party in my tummy, but the animated song shorts are THE BEST. If you search in You Tube you can find all sorts ofcool Yo Gabba snippets for fine viewing moments.

And I heart Mary, Jillene, and Yo Gabba Gabba. But I don't like the yucky icky germs.

Jillene said...

Thanks Ramona! You're the best!

Eww--you guys are making me sc-ared!

What the heck?

Send anon over to me. I'll kick her a$$ all over bloggy land!

Jillene said...

Welcome "Nobody You Know"! I love new blog friends! I will be checking out your blog asap!

I wish I knew who the anon was--I am pretty riled up over this!

Jillene said...

OH. MY. HECK. I am now in the "cool" club--I have 20 comments on this post! I have broken out of the teens (at least this time and it will probably never happen again)! I am SO happy! Maybe (not really) it will make me forget about the anon commentor (well-it will just for a minute!).

Goob said...

there is something wrong with me...i love aquabats ( cool pool party anyone?) and I love yo gabba gabba! ( This IS however the first time i've heard that they were the creators...but it does explain why I like the ridiculous show) We are sort of ridiculous in our house. Our Friday night date night usually consist of an ice-cream from McDonalds and the SkaPunk show @ 10:00. Because...duh, duh, duuuh, duh, duuuuuuuh, "We are SUPER RAD!" ( tell yer mom, tell yer dad...will ya?) hehehee

Jillene said...

Ari-
The show was cute....the first time I watched it. It just drives me a little crazy. It is great for kids--Olivia loves it. She talks about not biting her friends and eating healthy food and all sorts of things. I never said it wasn't educational or fun--i just said it drives me crazy. The same songs over and over day in and day out get old after a while. Just my own personal opinion! (0:

I am not turning off the anonymous option. I just think people should have the balls to comment as themselves!

Goob said...

oh! and honestly, if you're not enjoying Yo Gabba Gabba, its because you're not getting up and doing the dances. LOL Come-On! what's not to like about BizMark-e (?) teachin' ya how to do the rolly-polly, or whatever the heck dance it is of the day. I have to admit though, the artist dude...he looks like a perv to me.

Jillene said...

Lisa-
Love it!! BizMarkee(? just wanted to be different) is a hoot! Matter of fact I do the wiggle/freeze dance with Olivia everytime it is on--she makes me! I don't HATE the show--it just drives me crazy. I mean--we literally watch it EVERY single day and sometimes twice a day.

Holly said...

My Butterfly loves this one too. Thankfully we don't have cable so she only can watch in Club Med.

So.... Does this make me a bad Mormon for hating on some of the Twilight books? I think Kristina is definitely going to hell because of how much she hates those things.

Brittany Marie said...

I hate scrapbooking, Halestorm movies and that horrendous Book of Mormon movie... I fear even my devotion to Gardner Village can't save me now.

Whitney R said...

Wow. Wow wow wow. Jillene, you are awesome. If someone leaves a mean comment on my blog will you defend my honor? Because I know I couldn't do as good of a job as you have. I don't have anon comments, though. I want to know who is leavening them in case of just a thing like this. But apparently that person really did not want to be known. Coward? Maybe?

Mary! I can't believe they made you break out the caps. I mean honestly, this person does NOT know who he/she is dealing with!

Laurie said...

Hi ladies! I stumbled across your blog looking up Yo Gabba Gabba. Uh, I don't know who "anonymous" is, but I hope that's not the Yo Gabba Gabba mouthpiece as I can assure you that I've never met anyone from there who would act like that. In fact, I would imagine they would find it embarrassing if a friend or family member lashed out "on their behalf", you know? So yeah, ignore, ignore. And welcome to the "I got a rude commenter on my blog" club!

Anyway, my thoughts on Yo Gabba Gabba? Try it, You'll Like it! Of course, I'm hugely biased, but they're a group of REALLY cool LDS dudes from Southern California who don't want to be syrupy like Barney or Teletubbies. I'll commend them for that!

Seriously, Jillene, don't fret over an internet troll, ok? It's happened to all of us, but you must not let it affect you. Chances are huge that you don't actually know them, and they'll never be back. That's how it goes!

Jillene said...

Laurie-
Welcome to my blog! I am glad that you stopped by! I appreciate your comment. I will just say once again that I don't hate the show, I think it teaches my daughter a lot of great things--Don't, Don't, Don't Bite Your Friends and Try It You'll Like It, You'll Like It Because You Tried It and So Yummy, So Yummy and Hold Still....Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle Go, Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle Go, Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle Stop! See--I know all of the songs!

I am just saying that hearing the same songs and watching the same episodes over and over can get annoying for ME as a ADULT. My daughter loves it and I let her watch it everyday.

I had NO idea until yesterday that it was the Auqabats that created the show--I think that is GREAT!! I am all for LDS people doing good in the world. matter of fact I LOVE the Aquabats music. The place where I used to work (it has long since closed down)--we made their CD's.

I am taking the anonymous commenter with a grain of salt. I just wish that pwople would stand up and comment as themselves.

So-now I will be checking out your blog and we can be new blog friends. Thanks again for your comment--I REALLY appreciate it!!

I think everyone should plan a day and blog about how much they hate yo gabba gabba, SO this family member can get a ton of google keyword emails! Flood that A-hole out then see how many anonymous comments everyone gets

holy drama!!! LOL...that anon commentor is soooo majorly craptastic. i feel the lurve emanating from him/her. i have no clue what yo gabba gabba is...just the name is a turn off for me. i am a grown up. my kids are getting older (well 11 and 7) which means i do not have to be exposed/tortured by all of those heinous kids' shows anymore. my kids aren't allowed to watch "obnoxious noisy kid shows" in the living room anymore because the noise makes me nervous. they know what i mean. i love the shrek movies' soundtracks, so they can watch those any time.
emily used to watch "spirit" over and over. it was okay at first, but then it got OLD. bryan adams songs start to finish...realy cheesy songs too....cheesy songs put me right over the edge. when julian was little i liked "blue's clues" just as much as he did, but after hearing "here's the mail it never fails it makes me want to wag my tail..." like 500 times, i was sick of it. teletubbies were the worst. they didn't even speak intelligible english. they spoke goobledy gock. just say no to kids shows.

If all of you people would spend as much time and energy on bringing souls unto Christ in your religion as you do on these blog comments, the whole world would be converted.

And also to the other anonymous dude or dudette, "Judge not lest ye be judged" If you are perfect, then you would be translated.

Jo said...

You have arrived. Not only did you get a troll, you got more than 30 comments! Wow.
I will confess. I hate Yo Gabba Gabba too. They are rather scary. And I don't care how cool or Mormon the producers are, it doesn't change my dislike one bit. Now excuse me please, I have some missionary work to go do.

Jillene said...

So are you a NEW anonymous? I love how you say judge not least ye be judged RIGHT after you tell us that we are using our time in-efficiently. Isn't that JUDGING?!?!

Jo-
You are the BEST!! That's all I have to say about that!

Whitney R said...

Jo made me giggle.

You know, none of us are perfect. Not LDS, Christian, Lutheran, Catholic, Jew- ANYONE.

So why are these anon's getting all worked up because we are getting worked up about a CHILDREN'S show. And of COURSE everyone is going to defend you and get a little worked up over some rude comments! We are all dumb little emotional humans.

My heavens. Some peeps are RIDICULOUS.

Whitney R said...

I'M THE 40TH COMMENT!!! WWAAHHOOOO!!

I feel so cool.

And jealous, I haven't hit over 30 yet. Maybe I should make fun of Yo Gabba Gabba or something.

Victoria Elder said...

Whitney do it! It really is one of the worst shows ever, it's just obnoxious. Dax LOVES it tho

Jillene said...

Who knew that I would become blog famous all because of Yo Gabba Gabba?

Whitney R said...

Oh, me, I should have told you that, I mean, that's how Joel got famous. Right?

Jillene said...

Whitney-
I am gald that you were #40! And don't be too jealous because I am sure it will NEVER happen again!

Jillybean said...

Dang, I feel like I'm the latecomer to the party.
The only Yo Gabba Gabba video I've ever seen is "Party in my tummy"and we had to watch that off of Youtube because we don't have cable. (I know, I know, we're practically cavemen)

My 3yo loves that song, and we would sing and dance to it frequently. After learning the song, we were actually able to talk him into eating a green bean! However, once he tasted it, he immediately spit it out, and hasn't tried any more vegetables since then.

Jillybean said...

And WOW! 46 comments!
