Today was supposed to be Hannah's first day of school. The teachers decided that they weren't getting enough participation in the Kindergarten Orientation as they would like so they did it today instead. We met in the auditorium and the teachers started out telling the parents what they expect--bring your kids to school EVERYDAY (we have a problem with that around here) and please try to be on time and all of the other fun stuff. Then the Principal took her turn and the the PTA President took her turn. There had to be a Spanish translator so it took twice as long--uuuugggghhhh! I of course had Olivia with me and she was a beast. She wouldn't hold still and was up and down and up and down on the chair and my lap and she was kicking the kid next to her when he put his feet to close to her--it was a real treat. Then we went on a tour of the school and ended up back in the classroom. The teacher read a book, let the kids make a puppet and then she had to talk to us some more--again it took twice as long because of the translation into Spanish. Then they gave the kids a cookie and we got to come home.
This whole process was supposed to last for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Umm...yea it lasted for 2 hours. WAY too long!! It looks like Hannah will have lots of fun new friends in her class. I like her teacher and will be volunteering as much as possible. Oh yea..I also signed up to be in the PTA--wow--now I am a typical mom! I will post tomorrow about the real 1st day of school--I'm sure I will be a wreck so watch out!! (0:

That's interesting that they pushed it back. She's adorable!
Look at her! She looks so ready for school. Poor mama, her birdies are growing up. 2 hours is too long, I totally agree!
Kristina-
Thanks! I TOTLLY agree!
Jo-
It makes me so sad that they are growing up. Mama is going to have a breakdown for sure tomorrow when she goes for real! And yes--she is SO ready for school and excited too!
Hi Jillene,,, I just want to tell you that she really is very beautiful!! I am sure that she will do great! I do have a question, Jim does not zach to go to school out here becuase of the tanslation issue. Do you think that it is an issue for your kids?
Angela-
The only issue I have ever had is today. They don't provide translators for the classroom--everything is done in English. I guess they had a translator for the parents so that they would understand the important things. Zach has been in this school for 5 years now and everything has been great. They make sure to split the classes up so there in an even ratio of smart/average/below average and same with race and boy/girl (at least at my elementary). Hannah's class has a variety of kids--white, black, asian, polynesian, spanish and bosneian (spelling?) and it is a good mix. Zachary's class is the same. Hope that helps and makes sense!
oh it does,, thanks so very much!! It does make me feel better.
I did not get the recipe's,, I am not sure what is wrong with my email... do you have awilliamson1227@hotmail.com?
oh and I would love to come to a scentsy party!! I love mine!!! (If we don't go to our cabin that is, we like to go before the snow falls). and thank you soooo much for the info on the hair coloring!! your awesome!!
Pretty pathetic that they have to force parents to attend the orientation by having it on the first day of school. I've also never noticed language being a problem in the school. I don't know if that would be what Cameron would say. Remember how he's always wondering why some people don't speak the "real" language.
Well, just one more at home! Pretty soon you'll be like me and can go to the store...during the day...all by your self! YIPPEEEE!!
She's so pretty! She looks very happy there. Oh, and poor Olivia.. had to sit there for 2 hours with some kid sitting too close to her and her mom clutching onto her while she tried to get her wiggles out. Sounds like me during church.
Christa-
Yea--it is pretty pathetic that they have to do it that way but out of the 22 kids in Hannah's class 21 showed up with their parents--so I guess it worked.
Rebecca-
Oh beleive me--I DREAM of the day that I can go to the store alone! Maybe I should just call you with my list until then! (0:
R-E--
Being a mom is the BEST! But remember--marriage first and don't forget Voodoo's for the reception!
Whitney-
Thank you--I think she is pretty gorgeous myself. And yea poor Olivia she was NOT a happy camper for those 2 long hours. I am glad I am not the only one who has wiggles during church!!
She looks so excited about being there. Can't wait to hear about the "real" first day!
