The BIG 10!!

10 years ago today I had a VERY small but brand new baby. Because of complications in my pregnancy (Toxemia) I had to be induced 4-1/2 weeks early. I was in labor for 12-1/2 hours and finally at 12:24am my beautiful baby boy was born. He weighed in at 5lbs. 14oz. and was 18" long. I got to see him for about 5 seconds and then he was whisked away. I didn't get to see him again until about 8am. That was really hard for me--but when I finally go to hold him it was love at first sight. Later that day reality set in because he kept turning blue. He was whisked away yet again to the NICU where they determined that he couldn't breathe, suck and swallow at the same time. A feeding tube was inserted and from then on we had to go see him in the NICU. The time came for me to go home but I couldn't take my precious baby with me. He was still struggling. I was heart broken. I had to be taken to the hospital early every morning and I would stay until 9:00 at night. My husband and my dad gave him a Priesthood Blessing and after 7 days we brought him home.

Z is such a sweet, loving, tenderhearted boy. He brings so much love and joy into our home. He is a great example to his little sisters and to me. Z--remember who you are. Remember where you came from. Stay true to yourself. And most importantly, remember that your dad and I love you unconditionally. Happy Birthday son--I love you!!

Z's Birthday Party (4 Days Early)

Saturday we had Z's Birthday Party. He opted to have it at Nickelmania--which was FINE with me. That meant that I didn't have to clean my house, I didn't have to have 12 kids running around in my house, and I didn't have to clean my house after. WHOO HOO!! We had to have it early this year because of my husbands work schedule--Z didn't mind at all!! (0; He invited his good friends, we had pizza and drinks. They got to play video games for 2 hours. And then for his cake we had--------donuts. This kid doesn't like cake. I have NO idea where he came from. I will be posting on Wednesday (his actual Birthday) with his birth story. I am still in shock that I will have a 10 year old in 2 days. Where does the time go?
**BTW--there is an awesome giveaway going on over at Sarah's Life. Go on and check it out!!

You Just Never Know....

I have this bloggy friend Rychelle at The Better To Stalk You With, My Dear. She lives in Las Vegas and is just pretty much the nicest girl ever. She has a great blog--always full of fun and adventure. She came to my neck of the woods this weekend and was going to have a bloggy lunch. But because of family obligations she had to cancel the lunch. BUT--she did e-mail me telling me that she wanted to bring dinner for me and my family. HUH?! Someone that I have never met in person wants to do selfless service for me? She showed up at my home this afternoon with an amazingly large bowl of Taco Soup (she loves all things Taco as do I). She even brought it in a bowl for me to keep! This pretty much brought me to tears. You just never know what amazing people you can meet through blogging. I am now honored to say that I know Rychelle--not only bloggy but I have actually met her. She is as amazing as I thought she would be. Thanks again Rychelle!! You are a wonderful friend!!

**UPDATE** - I just got finished eating a big bowl of Taco Soup and man o man was it DELICIOUS!! I will be needing a recipe Rychelle!!

I Know You Are Probably Sick Of All This....And Some Funny Stuff From O

I am sure that you are all sick of me and my surgery drama but this is my journal and I need to remember this crap. I am feeling semi-better. I finally got the catheter out last Wednesday--HOORAY. I went into the Dr's office and the nurse took me into a room. *FYI--for those that don't know I had a Super Pubic catheter--which means that it was in my bladder and the port was just above my pelvic bone.* She cut all of the 16 stitches that were holding it in and then pulled each one out. OUCH!! Then she told me to look at her and take a nice, big deep breath. She started to count to three--got to two and yanked it out. FREAKING A--IT HURT LIKE A S.O.B.!! I had a big hole in my pelvic region and I thought she would stitch it. NOPE--she stopped the oozing whatever and gave me some handy dandy gauze and told me to change it every once in a while and that the hole would close up within 24 hours. WTH?! But that night I wanted it back in (who would have thought?). My bladder didn't know what to do with itself so I was extremely full and bloated. I had to try and void every 10 minutes from 3am to 6am and then I was finally comfortable. It is getting better but I am still having to void every 1-2 hours (that includes at night) so I am exhausted. I keep thinking that I am better and then I over-do it (like last night when I cooked dinner). But believe me--I end up paying for it by bleeding like a stuck pig. I am still on restriction--no cleaning, no lifting, no laundry, no driving for another 3 weeks--BOO!! The no driving thing is making me INSANE!! That is where I am at right now.

Now for O. She is a naughty, but funny little girl. This morning this was our conversation:
O: Mom, get me dressed.
Me: O.K. just give me a minute (I was eating breakfast).
O: NOOOOOO!! Today!!
Me: I know today, just give me a minute.
O: TOOOOODAAAAAAY!!!! (at this point she is pretty pissed off)
Me: (put down my yummy organic raisin bran and got her dressed so she would stop yelling).

This was what she said after she realized that I didn't have a catheter bag anymore. I walked into the REALLY full waiting room and this is what I heard:
O: (as loud as humanly possible) MOM!! Hey--what happened to your pee bag?
Me: (red faced and embarrassed) Shhhhh!! The nurse took it out.
O: (still as loud as possible) You better go get that pee bag back on--where's your pee going to go? Where is the pee bag?
Me: (herding them out as fast as possible--listening to the sound of many people laughing)
The joys of having a 3 year old!!

Here's The Scoop

Well--I am still here and trying to survive. I still have a catheter in and have to carry around a cath bag. I am really fed up with the whole thing. But I am trying to look on the bright side--things will be SO much better once I heal and recover. It is annoying and a pain in the butt but I guess I just need to be patient (yeah right) and endure to the end (is there any end in sight? Hopefully this week). Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers--they are MUCH needed.

Yup....I'm Alive

Well--I made it through the surgery. All went well--it only lasted about 1 hour and 45 minutes. I am feeling pretty good--other than the fact that I still have a catheter in. Re-training a bladder is a lot of work. My bladder has no sensations or feelings so I am trying to bring them back. It is getting better day by day. Hopefully by the end of the week the catheter can come out. I also found that it is IMPERATIVE to keep up on the pain meds--otherwise I am miserable. I can't sit here long--it's not to comfy so I am still not able to comment on your blogs--but I am reading them when possible. I again just wanted to thank you all for your love, prayers and support. I means the world to me. (0:
