I Know You Are Probably Sick Of All This....And Some Funny Stuff From O

I am sure that you are all sick of me and my surgery drama but this is my journal and I need to remember this crap. I am feeling semi-better. I finally got the catheter out last Wednesday--HOORAY. I went into the Dr's office and the nurse took me into a room. *FYI--for those that don't know I had a Super Pubic catheter--which means that it was in my bladder and the port was just above my pelvic bone.* She cut all of the 16 stitches that were holding it in and then pulled each one out. OUCH!! Then she told me to look at her and take a nice, big deep breath. She started to count to three--got to two and yanked it out. FREAKING A--IT HURT LIKE A S.O.B.!! I had a big hole in my pelvic region and I thought she would stitch it. NOPE--she stopped the oozing whatever and gave me some handy dandy gauze and told me to change it every once in a while and that the hole would close up within 24 hours. WTH?! But that night I wanted it back in (who would have thought?). My bladder didn't know what to do with itself so I was extremely full and bloated. I had to try and void every 10 minutes from 3am to 6am and then I was finally comfortable. It is getting better but I am still having to void every 1-2 hours (that includes at night) so I am exhausted. I keep thinking that I am better and then I over-do it (like last night when I cooked dinner). But believe me--I end up paying for it by bleeding like a stuck pig. I am still on restriction--no cleaning, no lifting, no laundry, no driving for another 3 weeks--BOO!! The no driving thing is making me INSANE!! That is where I am at right now.

Now for O. She is a naughty, but funny little girl. This morning this was our conversation:
O: Mom, get me dressed.
Me: O.K. just give me a minute (I was eating breakfast).
O: NOOOOOO!! Today!!
Me: I know today, just give me a minute.
O: TOOOOODAAAAAAY!!!! (at this point she is pretty pissed off)
Me: (put down my yummy organic raisin bran and got her dressed so she would stop yelling).

This was what she said after she realized that I didn't have a catheter bag anymore. I walked into the REALLY full waiting room and this is what I heard:
O: (as loud as humanly possible) MOM!! Hey--what happened to your pee bag?
Me: (red faced and embarrassed) Shhhhh!! The nurse took it out.
O: (still as loud as possible) You better go get that pee bag back on--where's your pee going to go? Where is the pee bag?
Me: (herding them out as fast as possible--listening to the sound of many people laughing)
The joys of having a 3 year old!!

AH! I can't read it... I got to catheder and had to quit. I am , by far, the most queasy person ever. I have been known to pass out at the mere mention of words like that!

Hope you are recovering well!

So glad the pee bag is out, even if O isn't sure what you will do with your pee. Another three weeks? That is nearly FOREVER. I suggest going to a hot beach somewhere where they have people bringing you drinks. Then every couple of hours you can stroll into the ocean and pee.

That sounds HORRIBLE!!! I was cathed in my last surgery and it was only for a few hours. It took several days to get my bladder back to normal. It was the same thing...a million trips to the bathroom and then using all my energy for a couple of measly drops. I can't even imagine how icky this is for you to go on for so long. Hang in there. Hope you have lots of good magazines...

EEW! I thought getting up twice a night was bad! I hope things start to go better. I can't imagine how frustrated you are not being able to do things. What a pain. Oh, and three year olds can be frustrating! SO much worse than two, don't you think?

i am so glad you can laugh, even if it does kill.

I can't even imagine how exhausted you are. Take care of yourself. I wish I lived closer so I could come and visit you or take you out for a drive.

And three year olds, ya gotta love them.

I hope you feel better. Having to be restricted stinks. I know you were totally mortified by your daughter, but that was hilarious :)

You are scaring me Jillene. Really, really scaring me.

I am so glad you got the cath out, did they say how long it takes to retrain your bladder? And your little one is so cute. I love when my kids say stuff like that. Yes, it is embarrassing at the time but it makes great memories.

It's bad that I keep thinking about all of this in relation to my mom's surgeries.
It's just all so familiar to me.
I'm glad things are coming together, though.
And the whole "pee bag" thing is just SO bad.

Kids have no couth, do they? "Mom, Where's your PEE BAG? (said as loudly as they can)" Sheesh.

I hope you are doing a little bit better day by day!

"You better go get that pee bag ..." Classic!

I'm sorry the recovery is rough going. I hope you're doing better all the time. At least you have cute, if naughty, kids to make you laugh!

It seems like such a long process, but it's all progress to healing, right??

O is so funny. Do people say she is just like you? :)

Oh, and I really love how you used void instead of pee. :D

Pee Bag! LOL! You poor thing!

I know about the whole bleeding thing...we had to watch that with Chilly after heart surgery in about 10 different places.

It's awesome that you have such a great sense of humor about it all!

I'm thinking about you and sending you good healing thoughts!

Oh I LOL'd at O and the pee bag!!!!

That stinks you're having to void so often. Been there, done that, not fun. Did doc say that would be normal? That happened to me after surgery and it ended up being a side effect called urine retention. I would keep an eye on it and call your doc if it doesn't fade off soon.
