Vendors, Food, Rides and Animal Crap

Yesterday after Zach got out of school we went to the State Fair. My kids were really excited to go. It was the perfect weather--not too hot, just right. We started out my meeting my parents at the front gate and then off we went. We went inside the exhibit buildings which were really neat. I can't believe that people are so talented--not me! We went into the vendor buildings and of course my kids wanted one of everything. We came across this really cool guy that was selling/demonstrating jewelry cleaner. He offered my mom and I a free ring cleaning with NO strings attached. He was from Las Vegas and he was HILARIOUS! My rings look amazing! Thanks cool Vegas guy that cleaned my rings for free and didn't bug me about buying your ring cleaner--you're my kind of guy!! We checked out every vendor booth--and again my kids wanted everything. Then we found the Little hands on the Farm exhibit. This is where the kids can pretend they work on the farm. My kids really had fun doing this and at the end they got to choose a treat--good times. My dad didn't want to do the farm thing (his feet were hurting) so he went across the way and started watching a family comedian. We joined him and finished watching the show. This guy was awesome! We all really enjoyed the show.

Then we decided to check out the animals. Pigs first. Everything was just fine until the end where this MONSTER pig laid and STUNK!! I started gagging as did my children and we had to get the heck outta there. It was decided right then and there that we were done looking at the animals--except the bunnies. I am glad for that because just the other night Matt had the remote and was watching Man vs. Wild again and Bear found a dead sheep and was going to cut the skin off and grabbed it by the butt and said, "I like to start at the grinner". I really didn't want to look at any sheep so soon after that.

We then went and took the kids to the pony ride. It cost me $4.00 a kid--What the? Oh well--they enjoyed it. They kept begging me to go on all of the other rides but I refused. I WILL NOT let any of my kids get on a Carnie Ride--SCARY!!

Then I decide I needed to see if I could find "Chacon". If I would have found it I would have made mu hubby try it--no luck. The strangest thing I saw was a Deep Fired Peanut Butter Sandwich--no thanks. We had a Funnel Cake instead--Yummy!!

We decided we that we had seen and done it all. We were there for 4 hours after all. We left and all went to Crown Burger for dinner. Can I just say that they make a crazy, delish Chef Salad? Then we took off for home. I think that we all had a good time--even if I couldn't find any "Chacon". Hope you have better luck Kristina!

We went last night! I will probably do a quick post next week.

No luck on the Chacon. I did ask a few of the candy making booths, and they looked at me like I was crazy.

However, I did try the deep fried PB&J, and the deep fried Oreos. They were both pretty good, actually. You missed out. :)

are you talking about the deep fried bacon?? If so, I heard that they didnt have it at the fair.

Kristina-
My hubby really wanted to try the deep fried PB&J but we had already eaten lunch and just had a snack there. The majority vote won on the Funnel Cake. We should have bought both. (0:

Shauna-
We are talking about chocolate covered bacon. Kristina was so looking forward to it--I was just going to make Matt try it. I hate bacon.

Oh ,Bear Gryllis, why oh why do you have to eat animals raw? How can someone as beautiful as you pee in your own shirt and wrap it around your head? Not that I mind much because then it means you are not wearing a shirt and this momma LUVS it when you don't wear a shirt but then you go and eat maggots and I am disgusted and in love at all once...

Jillene, sounds like the fair was fun. I'd take funnel cake over chacon any day.

Torina-
I agree with the Bear Grylls thing--he has a great body that is really nice to look at. I love to look at it--until he drinks his own pee, takes a bite of a sheeps heart, calls a sheeps bum a grinner and then sleeps in it's rotted skin, eats maggots and all other sorts of bugs, lets pee drip off of his chin onto his shirt and then when he finds a lake takes off his clothes (YUMMY) and cleans off but then puts the pee clothes back on (YUCKY)! Oh Bear--why?

I would love to try the PB & J! I had deep fried Mac 'n Cheese at Sephrys in Wa. (sooo good) and deep fried Oreos on vacation once (sssoooo ssooooo good).

What has me stumped is why you went to Crown Burger and got a salad!!! Hello? Onion Rings and Cheese Burger- comin at ya! You are way disciplined and healthy.

If you ever see me then you will know why the salad!

I love that Hannah is sitting so prim and proper.

I'm almost considering making my own Chacon cause I really can't stop thinking about it. I'm only worried it wouldn't turn out as great as I'd imagined.

I love love love rides. I am a bit of an adrenalin junky; I would get a wrist band at the fair and ride and ride and ride. Carnie rides are surprisingly one of the safer carnival rides because they are so frequently inspected and maintenanced.

How fun to go to the fair. We didn't make it this year. I would have liked to try the PB&J since I love to make grilled PB&J.

I'm with you on the carnie rides. Just too scarey to know your putting the kids on a ride that just hours earlier were packed up on the pack of a flatbed truck.

I am going to have to try the PB&J now!! I didn't notice that they had deep fried Oreos--if I would have I FOR SURE would have tried them.

Ramona-
How did they fry the Mac & Cheese? I think I would try that--I love me some Mac & Cheese!

Whitney-
I love rides too but just the fact that they travel around and sound and look horrible--no thanks. You can do all of the carnie rides for me and I will pray that you don't get seriously injured! (0:

man, utah's fair sounds WAY DIFFERENT from louisiana's fair. LOL. sounds like yall had some good old fun. pigs do stink so bad. i love animals, but it seems like the barn they keep the animals in at the fair always REEKS to high heaven. i can barely drag myself inside. of course it's really hot and humid here so that doesn't help. i love the incubator with the chicks hatching out of eggs. do yall have that? the prices for rides are always ridiculous though. and there are so many of those skuzzy booths where you shoot at balloons to win some cheap junky stuffed animal that the kids simply HAVE to have or they'll bust a gut...or the booth that gives aways goldfish in zip-loc bags. MY FAVE....not! but it's like you have to go, right? the kids get the day off from school and everything.

I'm glad you had fun at the fair. I'm glad we didn't go. (I love all deep fried, greasy food at the fair) I'm having a hard enough time keeping the 32 I lost off... Now that I am back running a little bit I hope to lose more.

Jillene, so glad that you had fun at the fair, I am still trying to decide if we should go this year. We have gone each year since zach was born, but it seems the same each time especiall since we don't ride any of those scary rides....
