I was pouring over the school lunch calendar today. I have to do this because if they are serving the Hamburger or Cheeseburger Zach won't eat it. He tried it once and when he got home this was what he said, "Mom, I will NEVER eat the Hamburger again! It tasted like they took it out of the toilet, shook the water off and served it!" So on the days there is a Hamburger/Cheeseburger I have to send him with a lunch from home--no big deal.
When I was looking over it I noticed that they had a "Yummy" Cheese Pizza and "Homemade" Beef Stroganoff. What the heck? Are they trying to pretend that they are homemade and yummy? Do they think that they are tricking the kids into picking those items because they have special quotation marks around them? Run son...run fast and be afraid....be very afraid!! I know that I am!!

hahaha. I actually really liked quite a bit of my school lunches.
Pizza, Pizza pocket, Uhhh... I know there were other things I liked. when I think of them, I'll let you know! :)
And I still need to read your birthing story. I'm just having a hard time finding more than 10 minutes at a time to sit down and read now that school has started. Blah.
I'm making those cookies for my YW tonight! Well, making them right now.
Oh, no. Cafeteria Beef Stroganoff?
Blech. I mean, delicious.
Whitney-
He actually rather likes school lunch--except the Hamburger.
Sorry that the birthing story is so long--don't feel like you have to read it!
Let me know how they liked the cookies!
Kristina-
Ummmm....yeah! Could you even begin to imagine cafeteria Stroganoff? I belch...I mean barfo right along with you!
We JUST had beef stroganoff for dinner tonight, I SWEAR! This is spooky.
But mine was homemade not "homemade"
I think you should have titled it School "Lunch". Since they're being so cheeky with their use of quotation marks. :p
holy cow- the thing that stood out for me was that they have so many entrees to choose from.
the schools here make one entree a day. period. so they had fried catfish today. that's one of the best meals they make. sometimes i look at the menu to decide what days i want to go join my kids for lunch. they love when i show up out of the blue!
I grew up in a dirt poor huge family (12 kids) so we always got free lunch. It was my favorite thing (and sometimes the only full meal of the day). BUT kids aren't tricked by tricky names.
I tried making potatoes for my boys... I named them "circle fries" and put ketchup on the table. They were having NONE of it.....
Ramona-
WOW--12 kids! I can hardly handle the 3 that I have--I can't even imagine 12!!
I love the circle fries--my kids would have done the exact same thing!! (0:
Jillene, you should add your email address to your profile, so I can email you in response to your comments!

yeah, Tanner won't eat the "hamburgers" or "cheeseburgers" either. On those days he makes his own lunch to take to school (with my supervision, of course)! :D
I actually thought the kids who brought brown bag lunches from home were the rich ones.
I admired their chips and sandwiches in a baggies, and cookie at the bottom.
If I had brought a sack lunch from home it would have had a cake mix and pork ginds in it.
What is the deal with quotation marks and food? I find it frightening too!
