Tamales and Zucchini Bread

Wow--3rd post for me today. I'm on a roll! For dinner last night my mom had homemade Tamales. She bought them from a lady that sells them at the Farmer's Market in Murray Park. She trusts this woman (my mom works at the Park Center) so I figured they should be o.k. (I am funny about my food--where it is cooked and by whom). She had pork and chicken. I had a chicken one and might I just say that it was DELICIOUS!! There were some left over so I got to have one for lunch today. I decided while I was basking in this glorious Tamale I should post about it. I highly recommend these Tamales--they are only $1.50 each. She also had Tacos, Spanish Rice, Refried Beans, Guacamole and Salsa from Morella's--for anyone who doesn't know Morella's is a little Mexican Restaurant in Murray (across the street and kiddie corner from Fashion Place Mall). They have THE BEST salsa and really good food at reasonable prices. The only drawback--it is a small place and it is always crowded.

My mom also made Zucchini bread. It is one of my favorites. She sent us home with a half of a loaf and I want to be a greedy bugger and eat the entire thing--but I won't (maybe). I will have to say that my mom is a really good cook. She has us for dinner every Sunday--yea for me! I really appreciate her willingness to feed all 11 of us every week. She is an amazing woman!! I love you mom!!

OK, I LOVE tamales. Have you ever tried the Rico's brand? They sell them at Harmons. I bought their corn ones last week, but they aren't my favorite. Their chicken and pork ones are excellent.

Thanks for the tip!

I LOVE tamales. One of the Butterflies nurses got me hooked on them by bringing them to me for lunch everyday last time she was in the hospital. They were so yummy! I'd never had them before, and I'm VERY picky.

I have GOT to try me some tamales. I have never had one. Can you believe that? And one of my sons is even Mexican. Crazy. Yummo.

Tamales are one of my favorite Sunday lunces. My mom would always buy the Lynn Wilson brand. Not real tamales, but I have fond memories of them. I've been buying some (and they could be Rico's) that are made by a company in Northern Utah. They come wrapped in the husks, plastic wrap and are frozen. Just a quick nuke and you're good to go.

Ryan told me once that he loved zucchini bread. So, I got some from my dad's garden and slaved for like 10 hours grating them and making the bread. When it was all ready, he said he didn't really feel like having any. Kind of like Matt and the pudding. It never did get eaten and I haven't made it since.

Sorry about the bread. I would have grabbed the loaf and shoved it in his mouth! (0:

Maybe we will have to head on over to Murray Park one Saturday and get us some fresh, yummy goodness!

Shauna-
I get the pictures from Google. If you go to google.com and at the top click on Images it will come up with all kinds of pictures!
