Sock Monster

This is the sock monster that lives in my house. He only eats the girls white socks--they taste the best. He sneaks around at night when we are all asleep and finds little girls socks and eats them up!! I have yet to catch the little bugger--he's way to fast!! I wish I could find his hiding place so that I could recover all 20 pairs of Hannah's socks and all 20 pair of Olivia's socks that he has so rudely gobbled up!!

At the beginning of summer both girls each had 20 pairs of socks. Neither of them hardly ever wore socks during the summer because they wore sandals. Now here it is Fall, and getting colder, and neither one of them can find any of their socks!! I managed to find them each 1 pair and they have had to wear them everyday (I know--gross!!) because I haven't been able to get out of bed (see previous 2 posts) to go and buy them some more. I went today and bought them each 10 pairs of socks. I am going to hide them in my room so that the dreaded sock monster can't find them!! Here's to hoping that darn sock monster can't find my hiding place because if he does--my socks could come up missing too!!

Did Jo email you one of the pictures of me I didn't post? Because that monster picture up there could easily be one of them.

Sorry about the sock loss.

that monster used to live here, but he has slowed down a bit. I think my boys socks are getting too stinky and he is moving to a more pleasant diet.

at least it's an excuse to go shopping

Kristina-
Uuuummmm....not even close!! I saw your pictures both on your blog and Vanessa's and you are BEAUTIFUL!!

Ramona-
He doesn't eat my son's for the SAME reason--they STINK too bad!!

I really didn't want to go shopping--cold, sick, child who won't ride in shopping cart or listen to mom....such a hassel!! Can't wait until I can go alone....

So... if he finds your hiding place he can eat YOUR socks too? Does that mean your hiding place is.... in your SOCK drawer!!?

We couldn't find any socks yesterday for church, the kids had to wear their sandals, and did you notice it snowed?

That crazy sock monster! Last week, my husband was complaining that he couldn't find a certain pair of socks. I told him to pull the drawer out of the dresser, and they had fallen behind and to the floor! Crazy, but at least the sock monster didn't get that pair!

Maybe I need to find better hiding places for ALL our socks here. Cause I'm sick of buying new socks. My husband bought 2 EXPENSIVE pairs of socks to go with his army boots, and all that is left is one sock. I am having a difficult time finding matching socks myself, and my kids socks...forget it. Maybe I'll have to start putting locks on all the sock drawers.

I don't know if you read the commy comment on Brittany's blog, but evidently, you all need foil hats and your sickness will go away. Evedently the reason you are sick is because of electromagnetic waves being sent out by the chinese government. Just thought you should know.

Oh Michelle--I got one of those commy comments on my last post AND he sent me an e-mail!! Good times!!

Mary-
LOVE it!! Olivia almost had to wear flip flops but at the last moment I found a pair of tights to fit her!!

Whitney-
No--I will hide them in my garment drawer--I am cleaver like that!!

Erin-
Socks are crazy like that. They are always getting lost around here!!

Hey, I have that same monster in my house! I still haven't tried something that acrtually works to get rid of him!

Welcome, welcome Christine!! I love new bloggy friends!! I will be visiting your blog asap and adding you to my blog list!!

I'm sure the sock monster stays away from our house for 2 reasons: I hardly ever wear socks, and Que's socks are, I assume, not tempting enough for him.

Every Saturday morning we can't find the football black uniform socks! Now I know what is happening to them. And as far as our everyday socks, I don't think the boys have ever worn socks that match because we throw all clean socks in a basket.

Thanks for the giveaway shout out. Keep your fingers crossed!

Vanessa-
I hae my fingers, toes, and eyes crossed!! I think that I REALLY need the Cold Stone card so I can treat myself to a Birthday Delight in 12 days!! (0;

Brittany-
Just wait--when the children come (and they will--I have faith you are 2 great people) the socks go!!

Tyler-
Thanks! I guess I didn't realize that was a DS in the picture!! Oops!!

Mommy Madness-
Uuuummmm....I don't think that my sons socks ever match either!! Boys don't care--matter of fact he probably wears the same exact pair everyday for a week for all I know!!

The sock monster visits out house too, then he goes into various places I can't reach or only look at once a year and vomits a sock here and there. When I find the socks he's done with they are too dirty to consider wearing anyhow. Last time we had the washer worked on there were several socks wedged between the washer tub and the actual frame of the washer!

Sneaky sock monster...Give Sarah Palin a call...I think she can hunt 'em down!!! (Don't ya'll get your nickers in a twist...I love Sarah Palin...I'm just saying...)

Hey! We have a similar monster. He lives in the dryer at my house, although he prefers the boys socks, he has a tendency to take off with my work socks as well. They can be sneaky little buggers.

it's amazing you were able to get a picture of him.

40 pairs of socks missing? That is crazy. Maybe they are hanging in the attic from the rafters, like white bats.

Jillene said...

Holly-
I am sure there are PLENTY behind, under, around the washer--especially with 5 of us!!

Leslie-
Hahahahahahahaha!!!! That made me laugh so hard!!

Me-
They are sneaky little buggers huh?!

Rychelle-
I'm good like that!!

Jo-
Yes--40 pairs and if I were to wager I would bet that they are all in the toy boxes downstairs in the toy room. They cleaned it on Saturday and heaven forbid they tell the difference between a toy and a sock/shoe/shirt, etc.!!

He's a little P.I.T.A. isn't he!! Uhmm thats' an acronym for those who aren't crazy smart like me! LOL

It seems he makes the rounds. Ryan and Tanner also had about 10 pairs of socks. But do you think they can find any when it comes time for school? Oh, except Tanner can on Sunday mornings...he wore white short socks with his dark blue pants this past Sunday. Lovely.

Yeah, that stupid sock monster has hit our house too. He's pretty picky though, he waits until after the socks are washed, and somehow seems to eat them between the dryer and the sock drawer.
Except for my 8 year old son's socks. Those are scattered throughout the house, making it SO easy to find them before school in the morning.

The sock monster's cousin lives here too. He eats spoons.

Just so you know, I'm opening an Etsy store with foil hats which will deflect the Chinese government mind controling electromagnetic waves.

Also, we missed you Saturday.

I can't even begin to tell you how many problems we have with socks at our house.
Or how many socks we have at our house, or at least how may we used to have.
