Memorial Day

I am so thankful for this holiday. We really need to be more appreciative of the men and women who serve our country. My dad was in the Marine Corp. and served two tours in the Vietnam War. He won't talk too much about it but I completely understand. He still has shrapnel in his body (which I have felt--yuck). He earned a Purple Heart for being injured. I am very proud of my dad and the bravery he showed in serving our country.

My brother-in-law Ryan is in the Army and is serving now in Iraq. Things over there are ugly. I have seen pictures and heard stories from him that make me sick. I pray everyday that he will be safe but as you all know there are no guarantees. I am very proud of Ryan. He has really grown up a lot since joining the Army. I am sure he has seen some horrific things and I hope and pray he will be able to deal with those things when he comes home in June.

So--men and women of the Armed Forces, my hat is off to you today. Thank you for protecting our country and our freedom!
