4th Fun

We had a GREAT 4th. We started out with a parade at 8:30am (I have only missed this parade 1 time in my 36 years--it's a family tradition).

Then we took the kids to McDonalds for lunch (gag). Then we went to a little hidden park in the neighborhood which I grew up in. There was an inflatable water slide for the kids and then we also played some of this:

And some of this:

Then we had a big one of these:

And we finished off with first our own show and then the parks show of these:

A great time was had by all. The only bad part was me forgetting to put sunscreen on myself. I got a little sunburned (if you count my nose being SUPER red, my eyes and lips being swollen and my neck being fried as little) it never fails....I always forget about myself!! Oh well--it was great fun and I can't wait until next year!!

Pretty much all I have to do is just think about going outside and I will get sunburned. Sunscreen or no sunscreen. All it does is make me a little less red.

Glad you had a great fourth! I am so white that if I sunburn I just peel and somehow I end up whiter than before...go figure...

Oh Kristina--NO, NO, NO!! It is gagalicious. Seriously--I would rather cut off my own arm than eat there!!

Frankly I'm just impressed w/ how nice your girls' hair looks! What's your secret? I nanny for 4 kids, 3 are girls, and I'm lucky if I get a brush through each of their heads each day!

Yaya--
My secret is that I threaten them. Not viciously but if they don't get their hair done they can't go to the parade and so on. They are pretty good about it though and they have learned that when it is hot outside--they want it braided or up or something so they are not so hot!!

I didn't know lips could swell up from being sunburned?!!

I think that's pretty cool that you have only missed one parade in all of those years!

I LOVE croquet!!

I hate parades, we go, we do it, we stick in the hot sun, we still do it! For hours. ugh! YOu a die hard woman!

I love family traditions too. The parade is one of my favorites. And yes--the sunburn was worth it!!

My thing is that I don't forget about myself with the sunscreen thing. I just am too freaking tired to put any more on any one, including myself!!!

Sunscreen can suck the life force out of me.
