Black Friday--One Of My Favorite Days!!

Usually I hate crowds and people in general but Black Friday has become a tradition for myself, my mom, my sister-in-law Mindy, my auntie Sharon, her daughter-in-law Aimee, Linda and Rachel. We leave around 4:45 a.m. and we usually don't get home until 3:00 in the afternoon. We usually hit Target and Walmart first. We spend the most time at Target--they have THE BEST deals on clothes for everyone that day.

Then sometimes we go to Shopko--it just depends on the ads and what everyone needs. After those 3 we usually have breakfast at Burger King and then head to Mervyn's and Roberts in Brickyard Plaza. We spend a lot of time at Mervyn's and it will be so sad that this will be the last year we can go there. )0:

Then it just depends, again, on the ads and what everyone needs where we go after that. Some years we have gone to Bed, Bath and Beyond, Linens and Things, Radio Shack, Macy's and Cottonwood Mall. We always have a good time!!

Now--I have been asked to give some tips to help on Black Friday. There are some CRAZY people out there. Tip #1 - Bring a pair of these:

Just in case you need to punch someone in the face. I have only ever wanted to do that a few times. People can get greedy and down-right rude. Also watch out for anyone that has a pair themselves. Like for instance--you are looking through a box of socks and a man looks over at you and tells you that that is his box of socks (sorry Mindy). Who knew that someone would be buying an ENTIRE box of socks?! We really have never been in any brawls--I have yelled at people because I am the mean one but other than that it has been o.k.

Tip #2 - Wear really good and comfy shoes!! You will be doing a lot of running and walking and "cute" shoes just don't cut it. You will be waiting in a lot of LONG lines. Especially if you get to the store before it opens. Once the doors open apparently people figure that line waiting isn't for them anymore so they rush the doors--this is when I get REALLY mad and sometimes use swears--the real ones.
Tip #3 - Walmart will match anyones ad price--as long as you have the ad with you. This is really good to know because it will save on trips to stores like Shopko who tend to only have 5 of everything in their ad (which make for some pretty mad shoppers).
Tip #4 - Have fun!! Don't take things so seriously. Enjoy yourself and the people you are with. It is the kick off of Christmas--so enjoy!! When you are all done and you finally make it home Tip #5 - Take a nap!! Good luck to all you shoppers--may you find everything your hearts desire (just don't take the things I want)!! (0;

I'm still digesting, no way am I going out shopping...
And I'm just going to say, it's actually ad. Like short for advertising. There. Am I officially a grammar bitch instead of Nazi now? haha

That's just one of my pet peeves I haven't blogged about yet haha....

The only store we have in our little town is Wal-Mart. I would either have to drive 45 minutes to get to St. George, or just not bother. This year I am opting to sleep in.

Julie-
I actually KNOW that. Now I feel really stupid!! I get typing so fast and that's when I make mistakes. My second problem is that I don't read over it before I post--DUH!!

Erin-
Aaawwww....that's too bad!!

Have fun for me. I refuse to participate in black Friday. I think I might actually die if I did. And that's not too huge of an overstatement.

LOL "I am the mean one"

hahaha

I want to do the early black friday shopping. I haven't gone to opening stores before.

I'm honestly scared!

My shopping friend is called eBay. I won't resort to losing sleep to shop.

Oh my heck your routine sounds EXACTLY like mine!!! I start either at Shopko or Target, but this year I think I will actually start at Joann's fabrics. They have flannel fabrics for like 99 cents a yard. Plus fake trees. Woot.

I totally hit up all those stores, but I am sad because this year I don't have anyone to do it with :(

You are a brave soul...and crazy too! There is an outlet mall in town that opens at midnight on Thursday...that is secretly tempting me...

I am a Black Friday lover too! Growing up my dad and I would hit the local stores or the mall and go wild. Mom always worked so she never went. Now that Im older I try to go but miss it most years due to a lack of babysitters at such an early hour. But I do have hubby convinced to head up there right after breakfast :P Have a great day shopping and a Happy Thanksgiving!

I've never done Black Friday before.
I don't do well with crowds either, but these are some good tips :) What time do you have to go to bed on Thanksgiving to get up that early? I hope you have tons of fun and get fantastic deals :D

I doubt I will have the energy for any Black Friday shopping, it is for the young and well rested. I might still be fairly young, but I am not well rested. Good luck, hope you have fun!

I bow to your greatness. I've only done Black Friday once and vowed to never go there again. Oh my lord,,,, people were insane.
Good luck and have a great time!

Nope. This still doesn't make me want to go out at that hour and shop. Not the slightest, little bit.

I love the excitement of going out on black friday but don't do it very often because no one wants to go with me. I know this has been a tradition for you all and will be thinking about how much fun your having. Happy Thanksgiving!!

I love Black Friday! Even if I stay in town (the same small one Erin lives in) for Thanksgiving, I drive up north on Thanksgiving night so I can go to good stores like Target with my mom. Can't wait! :)

My sister-in-law does the same thing on black friday. I personally couldn't do it. Sleep is my master!
I hope you have fun and find some great deals!

Kristina-
My husband actually said to me today, "You know you can get all of that stuff online with free shipping right?" Yeah--but where's the fun?

Jo-
Are you kidding me? My mom is 61 and she LOVES it!! You are NEVER too old!!

Rachel-
I try to go to bed at 9--yeah right!! I am usually too excited to sleep so basically I run on pure adrenalin (sp?).

MM-
Good luck with the yard sale!!

Christa-
Aaaawwww....I am sorry!! I was a scrooge about it like the first 2 years that my mom dragged, I mean made me go but now I love it!!

Shauna-
Your sisters won't go with you? I'm sorry!!

Lara-
YEAH for you!! Let me know how it went!!

Lee-
Maybe once you are married and have kids and you realize that you can actually leave the house for 12+ hours without said kids--you will love it then!! (0:

I used to do this, but I don't have the patience for it since I started shopping on-line.

That sounds so amazingly awful. Three things I hate most: crowds, shopping and early. Actually, throw some spiders and DTRS in there and it's officially the Worst Thing Ever.

However, I support you in your dedication and hope you have funny stories to blog about on your return.

Also! You do smilies in the same direction I do! Cool! (o:

My hubby goes...I sleep. :) He's usually back before I even wake up. He is very specific about what he is going out for.

I Think a Quarter to five is right up my alley!
How about I come over to your house around 4:30, walk in with out knocking, of course! Borrow your bathroom and leave my Grandkids with Your man to babysit. Then I'll bum a ride and hang out with you all day. Can you pay for my Burger king though , you know, the economy is kind of tight. Oh, also, will you push me around in the wheel chair shopping carts? because I have to wear cute shoes! If I can get one of the moterized shopping carts then I'll make sure to clear a path for you and your mom and stuff! SOUND FUN?
See you there!
YOU ARE SO FUN! JUST MAY REALLY DO IT!

I went for the first time shopping on Black Friday about 5 or 6 years ago. It was a blast! I haven't gone the last couple of years because I just haven't felt up to it.

We need a new tv though and if I can spot a hot deal on a good flat screen I will totally wait out in the cold and run and scream and laugh manically through a store to get one.

Laughing manically can help you by making it so others want to avoid you. There's my tip.

WOOOT! I'm going Black Friday shopping!!! Hopefully the stuff I have on my list is a little bit more random than what most people are after ... except the wagon. HEAVEN HELP ME if that wagon at Target is gone!!! 4:00 am I'm leaving my house. You better believe it. And depending on how long it takes me to get into the city, I might hit up Starbucks for a freezing cold Frappucino! LOL (Not kidding) .. Then, it's in line for Target's 5AM roll-call for me! I'm a girl on a mission, I tell ya! HA! I'm totally stoked.
