I'm sure that you have all noticed my absence the past 8 days, then again, maybe you haven't. Either way--I have missed blogging but these last 8 days have been some of the longest in my life. On Sunday, September 20th we received "that" phone call. You know--the 7:00am one that asks you and your husband to meet with the Stake President at 2:00pm that day. WOW--that really changed our day. I had to speak in Sacrament Meeting that day and I was a wreck. We knew what the calling was because our 2nd Counselor in the Bishopric had just moved. I called my mom so that she could take the kids and then we met with our wonderful Stake Presidency. The call to be the 2nd Counselor in the Bishopric was extended to Matt. We were both so humbled, and truth be told we still are. We let all of our family members know but the hard thing was not telling our friends. The reason why is because our very best friends are in our ward. Everyone knew that the change was coming and kept asking each other "have you gotten a call yet?" It was so hard to not just say yes but because of the sacred nature of things we needed to keep it to ourselves until the proper time. Matt was sustained and set apart this morning. We are so overwhelmed with the Spirit and we know that this is where he is needed. I support him 100% in this new calling and I know that he will do a wonderful job.

Wow! Congrats? Good luck! I'm sure he will do an amazing job.
Congratulations as you start this new adventure in life!
Wow! That would be humbling. lol. But I think it's awesome!!
Congrats! And I will pray for you during sacrament having to sit all alone :)
I'm sure your kids are perfect angels who will never act out during church, thus making your job easy.
I know your life has been busy lately- I have missed seeing you around in bloggy land as much...but this is great. I know it will be hard with all that he will give of himself and his time, but you will be so blessed for it. I am glad it has already been a spiritual, sacred time for you guys.
I never know if "congratulation" is appropriate with this type of thing, but it is exciting and humbling and reassuring all at the same time to be trusted with such things.
Congrats too you both.. I sit in our ward all myself too, glad you could join the single wives club! lol
oh my goodness...To me that would be some seriously heavy news. I hope Stake President's first counsel for him was to take time for his family every week no matter what.
I know Matt will be wonderful at his new calling!! Your family is such a good example to so many people in our ward...and I support the calling given to Matt 100%
That's great! Congrats! No wonder you guys were busy!
I'm not sure what's going on but I assume that it's a great honor. Congrats to you and your family.
Congrats on the call! :-D
Lisa-
Matter of fact it was. He told Matt that I was his first priority and then our children. That he needed to make time for all of us no matter what. And when he was set apart the same thing was said.
Congratulations and condolences all at the same time!
Wow. That is one call I'm not sure I ever want to get (not that it would happen anytime soon for my hubby anyhow.) Good luck!
Let the busy-ness begin!
My husband was made the YM president a month ago, and people keep saying he will be the next bishop. NOOOOO!
Good luck to both of you!

Wow - this sounds like an amazing honor! Good luck with the transition and finding time for everything. It sounds like your husband has a good plan and is willing to make time for everything and I am sure that is reassuring to you. Congratulations!
Congrats!! I've missed your blog!!

It will be a good thing, you will feel some sacrifice but seeing how much Matt will grow will be awesome for you to witness. You will be blessed for it as well.
It sounds like congratulations are in order! :)
I'm not familiar with your church, but congratulations! I hope that the new call is a wonderful thing!
Oh the blessings it will bring! :) I hope you do ok as a single mom on those nights and days he has to be gone. Congratulations :)

Awesome! Hope everything falls right into place.
Just wait until Isadora finds out what's in the haunted house...
Wow! Congratulations! Truly a calling that takes the WHOLE family. But the blessings are great!
Congratulations. Hoping that the change works out for the best.
So neat. So I'm curious, does he gotta shave his face all the time now? :) I was just looking at your sidebar pics. My hubby hates facial hair (on himself) but hates shaving worse so more often than not he's got a good amount.
Debbie-
It's not manditory but the Bishop encouraged him to. He hadn't shaved off the goatee for over a decade so he has been shaving every few days to get accostomed to it. He has a really big/bad scar on his chin and it has been giving him trouble now that it is bare.
He will do a great job and so will you. I know the Lord will lengthen your stride, He did mine when Neil was in the Bishopric. I thought there was NO way we could do it, but guess what, we did, and honestly, it wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it was going to be. We were very blessed. I was also serving in the YW pres and Parker was a baby. I really have no idea how we did it, I guess we didn't, HE did!
I am so jealous you won something on MMB!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
I know that Matt will be wonderful!!!!! I'm sure this is just a stepping stone to bigger and even better things! You guys so deserve this and all of the blessings. (Every great man has an even better wife behind him). :-D remind him of that often, and yourself too! Hehehe
Congrats and best wishes---and don't mind the haters.....there's always one or two that are jellous.
