The Rains Came Down & The Floods Came Up

Twice in the last 2 days I have started a load of laundry only to flood the laundry room and downstairs bathroom. TWICE. We thought that the problem was fixed after the first time but I guess that's what we get for thinking. My husband did some plumbing at midnight last night but I am afraid that I won't be attempting the 6 or so loads of laundry that I have waiting around until he is home later tonight. I hope that this is not an omen for things to come--last week was bad enough!! (FYI--my dryer did not catch on fire--this was just the only picture I could find that had a flooded laundry room.)

I'm so sorry! Good luck. There's nothing worse than folding 6 loads of laundry at a time.

Are you sure it's a plumbing problem?

Oh no! I hope things get sorted out quickly! I know what it's like to get behind on laundry, you never get caught up!

It's like I just had a flashback when I read this! This happened to us too and our problem was that it was a small crack in the pipe that led to the outside. But, the crack was in the part of the pipe that was inside the freakin' wall. So they had to cut the cinder block wall to get in there and fix it. No more laundry floods after that though. :)

Good luck! I feel your pain. I cleaned up that stupid water mess more time than I care to think about.

I think you should have your kids put all their clothes on, douse them with laundry detergent then send them outside to play in the sprinklers.
If they stay outside until like 3:00, the clothes should be dry too.

See, I just solved your laundry problem, and kept your kids entertained too!

You're welcome.

Christa--
Yes--it's a plumbing problem. He found some major blockage last night with one of thise snake thingies. Seems like the disposal and the dishwasher have something to do with it too. UGH!!

I know of a good rooter company. I've used them twice now because our basement drain has backed up. It's all connected too. They're only $75 and have a very quick response time.

That is so awful--water can ruin so much! I would wait until my husband was home as well. Cleaning up such a mess is so time consuming!

Oh my gosh. I would have freaked out. Although...not once but twice I have left the faucet on to fill up the sink for dishes and it overflows into the kitchen. Oops!

Just the idea of six loads makes me want to puke!

Ugh. I hate it when my washing machine is on the fritz.

I have had my washing machine flood a couple times. Often enough to worry that the house we're leasing is on the 2nd story. Every time I run a load I picture soapy water dripping down from the ceiling.
