Rain + Dirt + More Rain = Mud, More Mud And Just Another Reason Why I Hate Camping

O in front of the fire. This is where we spent most of our time because it was butt freaking cold and wet.

H in front of the fire--just before she fell down in the creek and got all muddy. UGH!!

Z in front of the fire. He was wet and muddy from the get go. Boys will be boys right?!

O in front of the tent (notice the muddy ground--nice). She kept tripping on the lip outside the door of the tent--which meant she was all muddy too.

H in the tent changing her clothes after falling in the muddy creek. Note the muddy sweatshirt hanging next to her head.

Z eating pancakes for breakfast. No need for a knife--just put the whole thing in your mouth and bite--then let it drop onto the plate. Good times.

It rained and rained. It was wet and muddy. I had a good time socializing with people but sleeping, the mud, the wet and the cold--NO THANKS. I still hate camping!!

I only got 2 pictures because of the rotten rain. My opinion of camping remains unchanged as well.

I had a horrible, horrible camping experience when it was raining. I still have PTSD.

Your kids are adorable. I love how little kids, like O, always seem to try to show all their teeth when they smile. So cute.

Of course you don't need knives!

I've never been camping, but Ben had to go to a sleep away camp once where they made him sleep outside and he had a rock for a pillow. He's still not over it.

The kids loved every minute of it. Matter of fact--all day Saturday and Sunday O kept asking us to take her back up to camp. UGH--now it's 4 against 1. (0:

It sounds really dreary and miserable. I'll bet home never looked quite so good as it did after that!

I hate it too. So when my husband suggested we go in a few weeks, I changed the subject.

Wet and muddy - a delight for kids, and a nightmare for moms. I'm glad you survived.

At least you got some great pics!
I remember up at camp in front of the fire.
It was always a good place to be during the cold.

Really? I love camping! I love camping food, I love being in the mountains, I love swimming in the lake or river.

Love it!

Camping isn't really my thing, although I know my day is coming where I have to suck it up and go for the kids' sake....and act like I enjoy it. Hey - at least I'll have the fixins for Smores. I'm just sayin'... :D

I haven't been in a few years. I hope it's fun next time I go but I'm nervous it just sounds fun to me in theory.

Ahhhh, you and I are so much alike! And wasn't this the weekend you also sacrificed your anniversary? My son once stood so close to the fire, he melted the tips of his shoes. LOL. Your kids are adorable and beautiful!

Ewwwwww. Cold wet camping is never fun! TELL YOUR HUSBAND YOU NEED AN RV!!!! I promise...it is great. The best of both worlds (especially reading on the couch with a cup of hot cocoa while the kids explore in the cold.)

Hey! COLD????? wait- where the heck do you live again???? it's like 100 degrees here at NIGHT in louisiana. camping is so fun- different strokes for different folks though, right? are you one of those ladies who gets regular fingernail treatments? what's that word? oh yeah, MANICURES? do you do that??? LOL

wait- i just read your traumatic story about the bumble bee in the nasty shasta soda. now i understand... never drink sodas outdoors!!!! i saw that happen to a guy at a BBQ several years back. it was a wasp. i about fainted...and it didn't even happen to ME. i was more freaked out than the guy who nearly swallowed that thing. he was stung inside the mouth too, but no severe swelling.

I think it rained every year I went to girls camp, except the year where I didn't have to go on a hike. It was awful. Raining and camping do not mix. I admire you for going, however. Hope you had at least a few good moments!

Katie-
No--I am not a girly girl but I don't like dirt under my fingernails. IT makes me almost hyperventalate. I also can't sleep outside. The noises the fears of bears, the fear that my children are freezing. The list could go on and on!!

Know what I don't like about camping? Well, one of the things - is how your beautiful breakfast is always COLD.
