Duh Mom (Again)

Today while O and I were waiting for H to come out of school, O's most favorite song of all time, No One by Alicia Keys, came on the radio. I started to sing along when I heard this hideous scream of NOOOOOOOOOOOO come from the backseat. O informed me that I was NOT standing in the concert and that I could NOT be the singer. She was standing in the concert and was to be the ONLY singer. She then informed me that I could only play the complano.

Remember how little girls are the supreme beings of the world. Of course she was the only one allowed to sing. Duh.

I hear stuff like this from Avery all the time. Although not with singing. She's usually sshhhing me and telling me that she is the only one allowed to speak at certain times.

Makes perfect sense to me.

totally makes sense. in fact, i think that's what i need to start telling my husband when he's singing along to MY favorite songs in the car.

Christa-
O does the EXACT same thing!! No one is allowed to talk without her supreme being permission!! No wonder O likes Avery so much--they are like 2 peas in a pod!!

giggle giggle...this is what my son always says to me when I do a sing along with the radio...

C: Mom, who sings that song?

Me: Alicia Keys

C: That's right..why don't you let her sing it then?

Little stinker!

You need to know where your place is. Good thing they remind us of it, DAILY!

That is so funny! My kids tell me I'm ruining it when I sing. It's not fair.

Yeah, I only sing when I'm alone in the car. It's been a good rule for me.

And complano is????

Does she know my kids or something? They NEVER let me sing. Not to the radio, not with them, not by myself. Glad to know that somebody else's kids demand center stage at all times, too. :)

Whenever my kids do that to me, I just sing louder. I'm sorta mean that way! ;)

Melissa said...

Yeah, I'm not allowed to sing along with my kids either. They act like I can't sing, or something!? :P

Kathy P said...

So did you sing louder? Ha -- to funny!

Cute blog BTW!

ha! Too funny! My boys always tell me "No..you can't sing mommee". I'm not sure if they are telling me they don't want me to, because its not my song or literally..I CAN'T Sing!

Julie-
The complano is the piano. That is how she says it most of the time. On the rare occasion she will say piano but mostly she says complano.

Real Mom, Real Life,
Welcome!! And matter of fact I did sing louder but by that time she had moved on to better things (her Barbie) so she didn't even notice!!

The term " standing in the concert" has got to be the funniest thing ever! How cute!

Ha! I bet you play a mean complano though.

Goob said...

Jillene said...

Shanna & Lisa-

I'm NEVER allowed to sing at the same time as my daughter, unless, of course, she wants me to. But, if she misses some of the words and I tell her what they are really supposed to be, she says "that's not right mom. These are the real words".

Jillybean said...

I usually just turn the radio up louder so I can't hear my kids complain.
Where does one obtain a complano? Do they come in pink?

Jillene said...

Jill-
At the complano store of course!! And I am sure that if it were up to O (and if you paid enough for it) you could get one in pink!!

Oh, you must have forgottent to mention that you were the opening act...and you were just trying to warm up the crowd with an impersonation of her. It's so hard when we forget the small details!!

Oh boy. You're in trouble. Because it really never changes. Complano. Funny.

Oh, and I laughed at your comment on my Denny's post. So you don't want me to tell you that I ate a piece of bacon and a piece of egg in the same bite, do you? :)

Jen said...

Ha-ha! My daughter does the same thing. Apparently I'm not good enough to sing along--only she is. I'm always singing to the radio...maybe she's just tired of hearing me sing and just wants to hear her own voice. This was cute.

Anonymous said...

Hahaha! So how are you at complano?

Anonymous said...

LOLOLLOL

love it!

my son suddenly gets a headache when I sing, and asks if we can turn the radio down.
This only makes me sing 10 times LOUDER!

Oh, my friend. I feel your pain. I received similar, devasting instructions from my toddler the other day.

All I can say is that they are too young to recognize real talent like ours when they hear it. :)

I am sure you are great on the complano. Whatever that is. I was told by my beloved granddaughter, about the same age as O, that my singing was hurting her ears. Yeah, good times baby!
