Great Progress, Sore Body, Great Neighbor

I am sooo proud of myself!! I was able to get a ton of weeding done today! I also decided that the bushes along the sidewalk are goners. We are going to rip those ugly suckers out as soon as possible. I will have to say that my back and my hands are KILLING!! All of that bending over all pulling up weeds really takes a toll on your body. I guess in the end it will be worth it though. Can I just say that I have a great neighbor?!?! I happened to ask Allan about what I could plant in place of the bushes in the front and he suggested that I do some ground covers like ivy and seedum. I never knew that you could use ivy as a ground cover. He took me into his yard and showed me what he has and it looks beautiful!! Even better, I don't have to go to the store to buy it--he is giving me all of the starters for free. I learned a lot from him today--for instance, ivy and seedum are drought friendly. I will also be able to plant it by the pine trees. AMAZING!! I am really fired up about this undertaking of making the yard look nice. Thank goodness that my neighbor is a Master Gardner huh?!?! I am so thankful for all of his help and information today and for all of the help and information to come. He's a great neighbor!!
